Not sure about "b" in the parentheses version # meaning that could be a beta version because I see there is the same "b" in version # that was shown on the update screen (on the 2018 MPB) for version 5.4.1 as well.I’m going to briefly walk you through the iLok License Manager where you control activations and deactivations of your Freehand software licenses.Ĭlick Sign In then log in with the same account you made while installing the Freehand Software. I am pretty certain I haven't knowingly installed any beta version plugins on the MBP max. I had heard last month that a beta version of iLok 5.5 was being installed with some beta ARM plugins being tested with iLok's beta program. The "GM" would indicate to me that this version is a Golden Master and ready for public distribution. Maybe 5.5 wasn't meant to be a non-beta released yet. I actually made this post because of the fact I hadn't seen ANY news on this release which there has been a lot of speculation about. I just did the same thing on my 2018 MBP (intel) and it prompted me to update from 5.3.1 to 5.4.1.Īs you indicated, 5.4.1 is on iLok's web download site. I opened the iLok License Manager app on the MBP Max and got prompted from an update screen to update to 5.5. With iLok now having ARM support.I would imagine that Pro Tools is a bit closer to having full M1 ARM compatibility. I am not going on the record to say Monterey and M1 ARM is ready or "Prime time" for everyone, but it is working better than expected for how I use it professionally at the moment. With all this being said.I have had no crashes and only minor issues using this system. None of this production is done with clients in the room. I do not need to use Avid's pro plugins which which are well documented on the DUC of not working with MacOS 12. This use doesn't have high track counts or uses a lot of MIDI tracks. *This laptop was purchased as a backup studio computer to another backup studio computer that is an 2018 MacBook Pro, a machine that runs to HOT and very LOUD!Īfter a lot of testing.I have been using the M1 max MacBook Pro running Universal Audio interfaces as the main studio computer for TV and radio advertising production since the release of Pt 12.12. Pro Tools 12.12 opens as expected on this *test laptop and with of course very limited testing, I see no issues with installing this update. The iLok manager info pane shows that it is a Universal application that was modified a little over an hour a go. I have downloaded it to an Apple MacBook Pro M1 max, MacOs 12.2.1 (64G//8TB). Just checked to see if I was using the latest iLok software and was prompted to download iLok License Manager 5.5.0.
